いつから青で絵を描くようになったのだろう。

死の床についた母の世話をしていた時にさかのぼる。
不意に、生と死は表裏一体であることに気づかされた。

私の定義によると、青く描かれたバラは、どの瞬間も美しく存在し続ける何かを象徴している。
青いバラを描いている内に、青という色調は、哀しみと言う感情だけでなく、希望に満ちた心や永遠の記憶などのさまざまな想いを内包することができることを確信した。

だから今も青い絵を描いているのです。

Since when did I learn to paint in blue?

It goes back to the time when I tended my mother in her death bed.
It dawned on me that “life” and “death” are two sides of the same coin.

Roses painted in blue, by my definition, symbolically represent something beautiful that continues to exist in every moment.
Painting blue roses lead me to believe that blue tones can contain not only feelings of sorrow but also a spectrum of other feelings including hopefulness and eternal memory.

This is why I continue to paint in blue.
